Problem Getting weapons to show in game

Postby Stormi » 11-11-2009 05:30 PM

For some odd reason, when I put my weapons through the OED and put them in game, when I go to test them, it looks like the camera is in my guys shoulder, and his arms are all stretchy.
Also, I'd like to know how to make weapon sights, without the background, so you can actually see down the sights.
I have Paintshop Pro 8 and 7.

Thx for help! :)

Ok, for your weapons, you have to make sure that your Template is set up correctly, otherwise you'll get very odd results.

For your weapon sights, you have to make sure that you have an editor that can adjust the Alpha channel. Alpha channel determines the opacity of the graphic... and if you don't have a proper Alpha you'll end up with a weapon sight that nobody can use.

Check out these two topics for further details:

If you need any further help with the weapon sight graphics, be sure to ask me. ;)

Thx Shadow! I managed to get them into the game, correctly.. Now I have another problem.. Can't get the arms to show up correctly. They show up like a tumbleweed, and very far off. Also, they look more like they're underground.

Ok, it's still template related.

You have to get your template set up correctly, AND use the animation set for that template, for example your using the M16 template, you would use the M16 animation set, and so on.

If I can find the time, I'll look around and see if I can come up with the "corrected" weapon templates, as some of them (especially the M21 template) have been messed up in a few places.

if people are still using my old templates, the best way to use them is to find the template that best matches the size and clip placement of your new gun. then take your new gun and name it the same as the gun in the template and make sure to overlay exactly where the old gun is then delete the old gun same with the clip or bolt and so on. do not move any of the little boxes around to fit your gun cause then the arms will go haywire..

Sometimes you do need to move a few of the boxes such as the one for the bullet case ejection and the muzzle flash but as for the hand positions you are right those should not be moved and that sounds like what he did.

I heve the weapon templates uploaded to

Just one more thing, I can't open the .max files. I'm using blender 2.49 because I can't afford 3DS max.

Thanks for the help guys! :D

sorry for late reply...

Do you know which file-types you can open? I can perhaps convert a few.
