BHD terrain question

Postby Timber3050 NAA » 06-03-2006 10:53 AM

I'm refamiliarising myself with the terrain creation process, and couldn't find the cpt conversion tool, so I decided to give the terrain genrating tool in the mod tools a try. well somehow, this

is there someone who can tell me how to fix this, or posibly toss me the cpt conversion tool?

Make sure your raw file is greyscale before you put it through the terrain gen. That seems to be your problem.

sweet, so now the ridges are gone. I do, however, have two new problems. the first is that the terrain generator seems to only generate a corner of the terrain. the other, is that the terrain comes out relatively level, only a few meters between the high and low points. any ideas?

Terrain height is based on greyscale values. The lighter the colour the higher the terrain. Hope this helps.

sorry, but I've already tried with black as the lowest and white as the highest, and it still comes out fairly level

first time i tried this i uses 16 bit raw grey scale but

tergen only truely supports 1024x1024

colour format bust be 8bit raw grey scale
and also have the hightmap vertical flipped befor exporting to raw

tip:

if ever notice waterlevels glitching ingame if you paint editor support wand selection tool"tool that globaly selects parts image by its rgb value" select the grey shade which is just 1 level below your water level and darken it by 1 shade ;)

creating ramps = simple gradient fill to the painted path layer
