to get the dds files just use fwo-ravens pff extractor on the pff file. you can narrow you search for only dds files.

then extract them to a folder of your choosing. you will also need the bfc extractor provided in the jo mod tools provided by terranovas download service. this will allow you to open the dds files in your prefered graphic program.

oh forgot, the /d command in the shortcut is so you can put your files you made in the specified mod folder or base folder of game so you dont have to pack them into the pff file, mainly for testing them out.

i used to do that too, the best way to find what you're looking for is by decompiling .3di files with a hex editor. xvi32 was the one i used to use, crack and a few others here use another one that i've begun to use but i can't remember the name of it right now for the love of me.. :(

google xvi32 for now just to get started. extract the .3di file - the name of it is listed in the MED so no need to go digging for it! then just look at the decompiled .3di with your hex editor to get what skins the .3di file uses.

BTW - .3di is the model file, so it has the info for what textures/skins wrap around it.

edit: hexedit is the name of it.

if you can't figure out how to look at the decompiled file take a look at the right column in the hex, that's where the texture names are found. other than that i can help you with any Q's ya got but right now, i'm ready to go to bed, so that's all you get tonight, lol :)

Yeah , easiest thing is to find a 3di you want to skin and open with hex editor. Like Blackice said, there are all the coordinates on the right side and will look like jibberish except that you will see a texture name following .tga. Always make sure if you change one texture, make sure you go down the list and edit that texture multi time is there are multi textures of the same texture or as you move away from an object it will change back to the old skin.

reason why it listed multiple times is do to the dds file having those 8 or 9 maps.

if you leave the name of the dds file the same and edit it you will not have to edit the 3di file. ;)

just make sure you save your dds with the other bipmaps.
