Humvee Import (Invisible Inside)

Postby Marine » 10-20-2006 02:19 PM

Ok, i have imported the humvee from bhd into 3dsmax. I know there was no interior, so i snatched one from one of the trucks. I have added CB's, and emplacement points. Only problem (I hope there is a simple solution) is that the inside of it is not textured (The roof for instance is not visible from within the vehicle, and all the doors and stuff are invisible. 1 question, is there an easy way in max8 to convert the planes making up the cockpit of the vehicle into boxes, so both sides are skinned?

I can post a screenshot if required. SpongebobMGS, Post if you have an idea. This will probably not make it into the ic mod, but if it does it will have credits from the people that helped me in the definition of the model. I hope that the incidents regarding the plane on both forums are forgotten when replying to this thread. Thanks.

simple in the oed, materials select 2 sided .

it will texture the inside with the same textures on the outside with the same cordinates, the inside door will have the outside door texture.

Nope, it still has an invisible inside... Should i recreate the inside of the humvee and just merge it with it? Just wondering because the poly count is fairly high already (1839) with just bog standard model. So if i recreate it i want to be aware of the amount of polys im going to use.

that would be the best way to go about it. keep it simple seats dash swheel, should go up to high.

not sure why the two sided deal didnt work for you in the oed, ive done it a few times that way.

Ive heard about a separate interior (To save it rendering the outside of the vehicle. Do you know how to do this? It might be easier... dont know.

i think your talking about lods, the high lod would be the complete version of the vehical "the interactive part" the next lod down would be seen from a few feet away so you could lose the inside like that then as lods go down through low and tiny you just save lower levels of detail of your model cause they are seen from a greater distance.
