Steering help?

Postby Sazza » 03-14-2006 02:19 AM

Hi fellow modders!

I need some help with a very hair pulling thing.
I have some vechiles that are ready to go. The wheels are rolling.
But the steering aspect makes me crazy.
In OED the wheel-turning and steering part is just right.
But in game the steering just go one way, and often the wrong way. Well that can be fixed with a negative value in the steering.
Also the Steering wheel itself dont turn either to left or right, it tilts forward.
No matter how i turn the BOXES in max and edit the OED settings. In game, the steering wheel still tilts and the wheels still turn the wrong way and ONLY one direction.

Is it the Convertion of the 3DI? If so, is there a way around that.

I know my way around Max, Oed and Hex. So pleeeease go directly to the point. Any help would be cool.
Max: All center and attach boxes are setup right. If someone needs my testfiles for this, please DL here.

If someone can help making this go right, please return this to me. sanzon@comhem.se
Many tnx in advance

Damn maaaan! That worked great. The wheel steering the wrong way but thats a easy fix with the negative value. Nice of you m8. I own you one.

Respect again

Hi m8tes,

@loa: i'm working on a testmodel and have the same problems.
Could you please send your steering-advice to me also?

@ Sazza: Did you ever manage to get the Wheels turning after converting to JO?
Muste be possible, because Vlad did in DJ-MOD for DFX, but no Idea how this damn thing works !?!?!?

Michael

Yep the wheels was rolling. Made one centerpoint and one attachpoint to each wheel. Backwheels as one item.

Then i made the pitch of the wheels to 359 "Vehicle_Wheels"
After that i made the steering. My error was to set the steering value to 35 degrees. This didnt help at all. So i send my test to LOA and all he did was changed the value of the "vehicle steering" (Yaw) to 359. Thats it!

Thanks m8!

Last Prob now are the turning wheels: Has it something to do with the ITEMS.DEF Entries ?

09_CHUNK_S 10_WHEEL 11_WHEEL.........

What are these Entries for?
Guess that the Model Parts has to be named so?

Sorry to bory you, but i've only milkshape and ultimate unwrap; both cannot read your .MAX files. A dozen others too, but of course not .MAX; LOL So i can't see the Model itself.

Michael
