taking jo weapons to DFX

I cant find the file that gets weapons to show up in "death.mnu" (see screenshot below)

ive looked in game.bin, gametext.bin and a few other bin files but couldnt find it..

That would be weapons.def and named in game.bin

This is what I wrote up a long time agon based on JO


Adding the images of the weapon to the menu and the ingame hud are varly simple.

Step 1: Export the DFVMENU.mnu from the localres.pff file and open it with in notepad.

Step 2: Do a search for the at4 should be last weapon. If not you can add the lines of text i'm about to post right after it anyhow. Type in the following.

IMAGE iWPN_RPG
{
FILE="m_RPG.tga";
FLAGS=STANDARD_TRANSPARENT;
}


Step 3: Save the file again by just clicking save in the note pad and or clicking save as and choosing the mnu file.

This will allow you now to see the image you created in the main menu where you choose weapons.

ADDING WEAPON IMAGE TO HUD

Making the weapon show up in the ingame HUD can be difficult or easy depending on how you go about it. Heres the steps i went to get it into the game.

Step 1: I exported the H_AT4.tga out of the localres.pff

I zoomed in abit to show more of the image, so its abit out of picture/blury

Step 2: I then opened it up in photoshop.Make sure you have your show layers window open. You should see a few tabs on it click on the channel tab. Scroll down and select the ALPHA 1 channel as seen in the pic. Once there paint the existing at4 out of the image staying inside the grey of course, Also use the grey color they have. Then cut and paste your new image into that layer.

Step 3: Save the image as a tga again as H_RPG and or what ever your weapon is.
INGAME HUD IMAGE

Open the weapons.def file and go to your text you placed into it for your new weapon and fine the line hudicon right after it place in you new tga file like such hudicon h_rpg.tga this will now allow your new image to show up in the game hud.

dfx/jo has no DFVMENU.mnu unfortunately. I still don't know what im doing wrong, owell.

sorry was gametxt.bin not game.bin.

you will need to add it to there and weapons.def. check ammo.def for there ammo and one of the .lwf files for the sounds.
